How to auto-post RSS feed to social media?

This post goes over how to auto-post your RSS feed to social media.

Many people want to set up a way to automatically post content from a blog RSS feed (or any RSS feed for that matter) to their social media accounts, whether that be Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, or Google My Business.

Here is how to do that.

How to post to social media automatically using RSS feeds

  • Using OneUp, first you need to connect your social media accounts. OneUp supports Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Google My Business.
This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-1024x266.png
  • After choose Auto-post from RSS feeds in the Schedule Post dropdown.
  • Then enter in your RSS feed URL.
  • Then choose a category, and the account(s) you want to post to. You can select as many accounts as you want, and the RSS feed will auto-post to all of them.
Selected accounts will appear solid, unselected accounts will appear grayed out
  • Next, choose whether you want it to publish just the most recent post from this feed, or whether you want it to queue up all posts now (up to the max) from this feed.

That’s it!

Moving forward, OneUp will automatically fetch any new posts that come through your RSS feed and post them to your selected social media accounts.

With OneUp, you can connect as many RSS feeds as you want and they will automatically post to your social media accounts, including direct posting to Instagram – no mobile notifications needed 😊

Here is a video showing how to auto-post to social media from RSS feeds:

How to schedule Instagram posts

To schedule Instagram posts, you need a social media scheduling tool like OneUp.

In OneUp, first connect your Instagram account:

In the Schedule Post dropdown, choose “Schedule a post”.

Choose which account you want to schedule this post to, and create your post:

Then choose to either post once or repeat this post, and either “Post Now” or schedule it for a future date and time.

Single image posts, multi-image posts (AKA carousel), video posts, and Instagram Stories are all supported with OneUp, on both Personal and Business Instagram accounts 😊

Do Google My Business posts help SEO?

This post goes over whether Google My Business posts help with SEO.

Google My Business, sometimes shortened to GMB, has provided the ability to publish posts to your Google My Business account. This is somewhat similar to a social media post, except it shows up in the Google search results.

If you are reading this, it probably means you are at least familiar with Google My Business posts. Your questions are probably something like:

Should I be taking the time to post on Google My Business?

Are there SEO benefits to posting on Google My Business?

Are Google posts worth my time and effort?

After all, Google My Business posts expire after 7 days, so it can be somewhat annoying to remember to post something new at least once a week.

In addition, Google My Business does not offer a way to schedule posts for the future natively, nor a way to publish the same post across multiple GMB locations at the same time.

(However, OneUp allows you to schedule Google posts for the future, set them to automatically repeat, and to post across multiple locations at once. More on OneUp at the bottom.)

Google My Business SEO case studies

Case Study #1

Kyle runs an SEO agency, and was able to get his client ranked in multiple cities in just a short time by utilizing Google My Business posts. This has led to a 54.94% increase in organic traffic for his client compared to the previous period.

Watch Kyle’s video for a full explanation of his process:

Case Study #2

In this study from Seach Engine Land, Joy states that using Google My Business posts moved the business into the top 3 positions of Google, also known as the 3-pack.

For this business, we saw their ranking in the local results increase one position on “garage flooring Vancouver.”  It moved up from position four to position three, winning them a spot in the 3-pack, less than a week after they started posting.

For just “garage flooring” (implicit search), they increased from position seven to two about four days after the posts started. I double-checked to make sure they didn’t receive any new reviews a few days prior to the increase, since they did receive a few new reviews during the course of the test.

Joy also talks about a church moving from the 5th spot to the 3rd spot in Google just by using Google My Business posts.

Case Study #3

In this study published on the Moz blog, they looked at the companies that rank in the top 20 of the search results for local searches in major cities for these keywords:

real estate agent, mortgage, travel agency, insurance or insurance agents, dentist, plastic surgeon, personal injury lawyer, plumber, veterinarian or vet, and locksmith

Their findings: A total of 59.60% of businesses that rank in the top 20 for these terms have posted a Google My Business Post on their Google My Business profile.

Additionally, 17.5% of businesses had an active post in the last 7 days.

While it may not prove it with absolute certainty, it leads one to believe that Google My Business posts certainly do have a positive effect on SEO.

Case Study #4

The question was raised whether Google My Business posts help with traffic on this SEO subreddit, and many people responded saying that they have seen positive results from using GMB posts.

Case Study #5

This same question was also raised in the Google My Business Help Group on Facebook.

The responses were a resounding yes.

Need an easy way to schedule and automatically repeat Google My Business posts?

The fact that your Google My Business posts expire after 7 days means that you have to constantly go back into GMB and post something week after week, again and again.

The solution: schedule out your Google My Business posts weeks or even months ahead of time.

OneUp allows you to schedule and set your Google My Business posts to automatically repeat. You can schedule the same post across multiple Google My Business accounts and locations at the same time.

The process is simple. Just connect your Google My Business account on the Accounts page.

Then schedule your GMB post, optionally adding any link or image to the post.

Then add your Call-To-Action button and a link.

In addition to just scheduling posts, OneUp allows you to set GMB posts to automatically repeat at custom intervals — such as once a week or once a month.

This allows you to reap the benefits of being active on Google My Business, without the hassle of constantly going back in every week to manually post something once your post expires.

Then choose to post it now, or schedule it for a date in the future.

Does Hootsuite support Google My Business posts?

Hootsuite supports Google My Business posts, but does not let you schedule posts for the future. Here is how you can schedule and automatically repeat your Google My Business posts.

Google My Business is an easy way for businesses to stand out in local SEO, and posts on GMB have been shown to increase traffic and improve search rankings.

However, the fact that your Google My Business posts expire after 7 days means that you have to constantly go back into GMB and post something week after week, again and again.

The solution: schedule out your Google My Business posts weeks or even months ahead of time.

The issue, however, is that very few social media schedulers work with Google My Business, and the ones that do work charge upwards of $50/month, which is a big hit to take for many businesses.

Hootsuite only supports Google My Business posts for posting immediately at that time, which you can already do natively in Google My Business. Hootsuite does not allow you to schedule Google My Business posts for the future.

However, OneUp allows you to schedule and automatically repeat your Google My Business posts, in addition to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

With OneUp, you can schedule posts across multiple GMB accounts and locations at the same time, and set up a rotation of posts to repeat automatically, so that your Google My Business posts are completely automated.

How to post to Facebook, Twitter, and Google My Business at once

This post goes over how to post to Facebook, Twitter, and Google My Business at the same time.

For anyone that posts the same thing to Facebook, Twitter, and Google My Business, you know how annoying it can be to switch between all 3, copying and pasting the same post on each of them.

Instead of doing that, here is how you can post to Facebook, Twitter, and Google My Business at the same time.

OneUp

OneUp is a social media scheduling tool that allows you to schedule and automatically repeat your posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google My Business, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.

Here are some of the features:

Posting to multiple pages – For people who are posting to more than one social network at a time, OneUp makes it easy to post to FB Pages and Groups, LinkedIn profiles and pages, Twitter, Pinterest, and Google My Business, all at once.

Adding Google My Business CTA buttons – You can add a Call-To-Action button if your Google My Business account is included in your scheduled post.

Repeating post – OneUp gives you the option to repeat your posts automatically. This allows you to resurface old posts that otherwise would have never been seen again. Also for anyone that has a Facebook Group with daily themes that repeat every week (such as “Make it happen Monday”), OneUp makes it easy to entirely automate this.

RSS feed automation – If there are any blogs, publications, podcasts, or YouTube channels that put out good content consistently, you can add the RSS feed links in OneUp, then whenever new content is posted from those places, it is automatically shared to the pages you select.

Chrome Extension – Using the OneUp Chrome extension, you can easily schedule many images at once from any website, such as sunsets for example. You can choose which images from the website you want to post to social media, bulk update or individually update the descriptions and links for each post, then schedule them to be posted with a set interval (such as every 60 minutes), or choose custom dates and times for all of them.

Customizable UTM parameters – OneUp lets you customize UTM parameters so you can keep track of how your links are performing in Google Analytics.

Link Shortening – Connect your Bitly account and OneUp will automatically shorten any links and allow you to track clicks through Bitly.

Why can’t I retweet anything on Twitter? Here is the solution

Twitter recently made an update making it seem like you can no longer retweet like normal anymore.

At first glance, it seems like you can only quote retweet (where you need to add your own comments to the retweet):

However, you can still indeed do a normal retweet on Twitter without needing to do a quote retweet.

When trying to retweet, simply leave the “Add a comment” field blank, and then click the Retweet button.

That’s it 😊

Although it seems like you cannot retweet like normal on Twitter anymore, you still can.

How to manage more than 5 Instagram accounts

This post shows you how to manage more than 5 Instagram accounts.

For anyone who manages more than one Instagram account, you know the struggle of constantly switching back and forth between accounts.

However, it becomes even more of a headache once you hit 5 Instagram accounts, because that is the limit for how many you can manage on a mobile device. Some people buy multiple phones just so they can manage more than 5 Instagram accounts.

That is crazy.

If you need an easy way to schedule and post photos to more than 5 Instagram accounts from a computer instead of managing it all from your smartphone, check out OneUp.

OneUp allows you to easily post to multiple Instagram accounts at the same time, and to schedule out posts weeks and months into the future. You can add hashtags and @tag other users in the description, and you can even schedule Instagram Stories with OneUp.

OneUp is an affordable and convenient way to manage multiple Instagram accounts. OneUp also supports Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and Google My Business.
